NEWS AND UPDATES

May 2006

After the rash of April births May has been quite serene. We made a day trip up to Connecticut and the Yankee Trial and were well rewarded for our effort. "Lost Acres Eternal Flame" made her debut and came away with a 4-6 puppy championship and in the middle of the freezing rain "Vanity" managed to pull off Reserve Best Open Bitch. Now we're anxiously awaiting Jason's return and watching the puppies grow. Can't wait for the rescue trial in June should be good fun even with only 2 dogs to show. Check the puppy page for recent pics. of all the little hellions.

April 2006

Well, NEVER again will I attempt 3 litters 3 weeks apart, especially while Jason is on the other side of the world. Sidney's puppies came without incidence on April the 6th, 1 boy (the first EVER from this cross) and 1 girl and dubbed "Aviator" aka "Ava" and "Navigator" aka "Gator".

On April 14th Memphis' puppies were born by c-section, 3 girls and one boy, and sadly as her puppies seem to always go we lost the male and one of the females. Her 2 daughters named for her sake (after famous WW II B-17 Bombers) "Calamity Jane" and "Mercy's Madhouse" are 2 very special blessings here at Mach One.

After a VERY long and hard labor Phantom's puppies arrived on April 29th and after 2 trips to the vet for a possible retained placenta, Phantom and her 2 boys and 2 girls are doing great. Named for famous War movies "Patton", "Full Metal Jacket", "When Trumpet's Fade" and "Tora! Tora! Tora!" they look to be better than Phantom's last litter which was very successful.

March 2006

Well with more than our fill of cold weather we decided with a little encouragement from Dessie Mackin to make the trek to FL and the Fox Cry Trial. It's quite a haul to say the least, but we took our time and made a nice family vacation out of the affair and took Ashton for her first visit to Disney World, I'm not sure who had more fun Ashton or us. The drive proved to be well worth the time and effort as we had a great showing and a great time with friends. On Sat. Bonnie was Reserve Colored Terrier Champion and on Sun. Vanity was Open Terrier Champion. Phantom won the bred by exhibitor class both days and most importantly the Mach One Tool Box Team remains undefeated winning the Tool Box Class both days, way to go girls. We soaked up quite a few rays, enough that we left rather pink, and headed home for a quick wrap up to the month before Jason leaves for his long deployment Sad smiley emoticon Time for puppies, Sidney is due the 1st week of April, Memphis a week and a half after her and Phantom is due 2 weeks after Memphis. Don't ask me what I was thinking except to say when we planned this I didn't know Jason would be gone. So, once all the puppies have arrived we'll look at our next trial, but not until the whelporama ends.

February 2006

Ok, so how is it that of all the groundhogs we’ve eradicated we can’t get rid of that @#$%^&* Punxsutawney Phil. More winter, please did I mention that Texan’s don’t shovel snow?????????????? So here we go with more cold weather and dismal days. Sidney is off to NY once again to repeat that ever successful breeding to Bear, you just can’t get enough of a good thing, or at least we can’t. So for the last time, probably, we will stick with the tried and true. Ashton’s first birthday plans are underway and WOW, it’s tough planning your little girls first party. I can’t believe it’s almost been a year, I know all parent say it but it’s true, it really FLYS by.

January 2006

Well, why not start off the year with a bang? Or, a long crazy trip home to Texas to attend the Piney Woods Terrier Olympics. Other than the terrible weather we had a great time catching up with old friends and meeting lots of new faces in TX. Sidney pinned 2nd both days in her working class and Talon was 3rd in stud dog and get. Dixie (Talon X Sidney) my parents cherished pet was 1st in the spay/neutered class but our best showing was actual our poorest showing, go figure. Our newest addition, “Thistle Ridge Sunny Irish Lass” a Cuchulaan Mick daughter made her world debut, literally. At 8 months it was her first everything, time out of the house, in a car, on a leash…..you get the idea. But in the large colored puppy class she managed to pin 2nd simply by standing hunched over the entire time, yes folks she’s just that lovely, she doesn’t even have to show, apparently. Check the introducing page and our girls page for her recent pictures and updates. Sunny is co-owned with Wendy Palmer of Thistle Ridge and we are very grateful to her for sending the beautiful girl this way.

Welcome 2006

As we said goodbye to 2005 here at Mach One it was with the same head scratching question of “where did the last year go?” Time certainly does fly, especially when your family life revolves around just that. It’s hard to believe we’ve been parents for almost a year now. We had many mile stones in 2005; Vanity became a granddam, Sidney became a great granddam (and will enter the veteran class in 2006, wow) Talon’s pups and grandpups continue to excel and produce beautifully. We watched families grow with both terriers and children.

What a wonderful and CRAZY year it was. We were very shaken when Memphis’ breeding to Fox Island Rock came up empty. We are unsure of why, but suffice to say there were many factors that could have contributed. We will of course try again on her next heat. We have several breedings planned for 2006, check the puppy page to see what we have planned.

Here’s wishing you all a wonderful and blessed 2006. Hope to see you at 2006 trials.
