Every story has a beginning and for us that beginning was Sidney. Little did we know when we brought this terrier into our life that she would forever alter the course of it, for the better, we think, haha. This little girl was all it took and suddenly we found ourselves surrounded with little white faces.
Sidney came to us from Orion Kennel and our dear friends Cindi and Buddy Anderson. We knew the good Lord definitely played a hand in this story, forging a bond between friendship and terriers. She was one of a litter of 8 and I knew the moment I saw her she was the one. That air of confidence and resilience was written all over her.
Sidney taught, and continues to teach us, more than we’ve taught her. There doesn’t seem to be a challenge you can lay before her that she can’t conquer. Her intelligence and drive are to be commended and I have yet to meet another that can match them.
Her career in the field and the ring has been one of her greatest successes, second only to her success as a brood bitch. Her first time in the ring brought her a reserve puppy championship, her first time in the field brought her an NHC to groundhog and her first time at the JRTCA National Trial brought her a best under smooth working bitch placement. She has won super earth championships and placed first in agility, obedience and racing.
For Sidney, stopping with her-own success would simply be ridiculous. She continued to make her mark, not just on us, but the terrier community with the advent of her first litter by Sow’s Ear Julien; Producing 4 lovely bitches including (Mach One F-4 Phantom and Mach One B-2 Spirit) that have gone on to follow their sire and dam’s legacy winning multiple; conformation, g-t-g and racing championships, as well as National Hunting Certificates.
You know the old saying if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That is precisely what was going through our minds when we decided to repeat the extremely successful breeding to Sow’s Ear Julien (Bear). Once again this cross produced an all bitch litter that was every bit and more of it’s predecessor; Mach One Green Beret and Mach One Navy Seal. These two bitches justify my “repeat” decision more and more everyday and I can’t wait to start them in the ring and in the field.
Now, Sidney’s grandchildren make their way into the show ring and the field and we know they will do it with the same poise and confidence that she did.
