NHC Groundhog

      Spirit was part of the second generation here at Mach One and was hard to ignore for the moment she was born. She had our hearts wrapped around her little paw. She is solid white save one beauty mark by her left eye with a rough coat that when maintained proves that not all rough coats have to be a chore. She had quite the little personality from the time she was mobile, always carrying something in her mouth and trumpeting her prize to all who would hear her. Kind and gentle to her litter mates she was always calm and laid back. Whether she was learning to bait or standing on the grooming table she gave the impression of a veteran.

      How do you decide to part with such a promising and precious puppy? You find a friend who sees the same promise and purpose you do, and then you make her sign a three page contract promising you a part of her. And so it came to be that Spirit would leave us and be co-owned with Mary Stevens and Prairie Creek in Missouri. Coming home and telling your husband that his favorite pup is not with you is no holiday, but with time Jason knew we had made the right choice for Spirit.

      Spirit grew into a beautiful little package capitalizing on the strengths of her sire and dam. She has one of the most incredibly gorgeous heads I have ever seen on a bitch, no chest to speak of, a beautiful top line and driving rear end. Combine that with her uncanny drive in the field and you got yourself one firecracker of a terrier.

      Her career in the show ring started off with a bang, not only was she puppy champion but she went on to be reserve champion of champions. Since then she has continued to excel in the ring and in the field earning her NHC to Groundhog on one of her first trips out. She has also been a part of her dam’s brood bitch and produce class that won best bitch and produce and reserve best family.

      In keeping with the temperament we strive so hard to instill in our terriers, Spirit has proven herself. She can be throw into any group of terriers whether in the ring or in the field and uphold the manners of a true lady. She shows a strong devotion to her pack and owners.

      It is with great pride that I bring Spirit back here to Mach One to whelp her first and a third generation for us. We feel truly blessed to have this amazing terrier return to her place of birth to repeat the cycle of life and wait with great anticipation for pups.
