Sow’s Ear Max Factor This! X The Hollow Memphis Belle

It’s hard to know where to start this little girl’s story. But, to understand it, you must first know her mother and her father’s story; then, and only then can the value and preciousness of this little terrier be truly understood. Vanity is currently Memphis’ only daughter, and one of just a very, very few Max Factor daughters. Her existence is nothing short of a miracle. Being born by C-Section, and then refusing to wake up for nearly an hour, my determination to save this little girl kept me pushing her towards life. Miraculously, she and her brother, The Hollow Cadence - the only two survivors out of a litter of three, - blossomed into two of the most beautiful terriers I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Though I bred both Vanity and Cadence, they carry the very time honored and trusted prefix of The Hollow. Both were promised to Mr. Jose Rice of The Hollow to satisfy the terms of my contract for their mother, The Hollow Memphis Belle. The day came when I had to hand over these special puppies, and even though Jose is a dear friend, it was gut-wrenching. A week passed and we felt a huge gap in our lives with out them. On a regular hunting trip to Millbrook, NY Jose saw how deeply I missed them, and being the truly kind-hearted person he is, he let me take them home. We decided on a co-ownership for Vanity, and I was thrilled to have her back in my arms. I will always be grateful for the friendship Jose has shown me over the years.

Vanity’s career in the show ring started off with a bang… a big one. Only once as a puppy did this little girl walk out of the show ring with less than a reserve puppy championship. She had become quite accustomed to winning and the attention that went along with it, and many times I couldn’t get her to leave the ring of her own accord. As she stepped from her puppy career into her adult career I was ready for this tiny and immature terrier to take a back seat to the older, sounder terriers. I should have known, however, she had no such intentions, and preceded to win an Open Terrier Championship her first time in her adult class.

Vanity has shown her mother’s very capable drive in the field, and worked very well several times this spring and summer on our favorite quarry - (haha) Mr. Chuckles, (a.k.a. groundhogs).Though perhaps what she is best known for is her uncanny resemblance to her aunty, Sow’s Ear Mascara. Scary’s owner, Twila Decker, and I love to put these two in pairs classes side by side. They are quite the dynamic duo.

Vanity is due to be bred on her next heat. We have not nailed down a stud just yet, but we are looking in the directon of Sow’s Ear Rubbish, a Sow’s Ear Julien (Bear) son. Keep checking back for a definite date and stud, as Vanity’s puppies are sure to follow in the great tradition laid before them.
